Revival of antique everyday objects as designer furniture – but in the beginning was the workbench:
During restoration and reconstruction, attention is always paid to authenticity; wear and tear, unique signs of use, age and thus history are consciously preserved. The piece of furniture is then branded with our “Alpenmöbel®” brand to preserve its exclusivity and originality. Each object is thus an unmistakable antique original and no two are alike.
In ancient times it was the pride of the carpenter and the heart of the workshop. It was not worked with machines, but with simple hand tools such as planes, chisels and saws.
All the furniture and utensils needed by the rural household were painstakingly made by the carpenter himself at the workbench.
The turn of the century and the economic upswing superseded the traditional way of working and with it the workbench…
When some time ago an old heirloom fell into my hands, it came as it had to come. I could not use it according to its purpose, but throw it away? No – much too bad, one should not forget the long time that was worked on it!
Since furniture – whether antique or aged in dignity – could tell us something about their past, it is important to me to preserve them. However, the planing bench should not only be restored, but something special, something unmistakable should be created from it. I tried to combine exclusive design with history and at the same time give the piece of furniture a new function. As I was renovating an old farmhouse, I had the idea to convert the workbench into bathroom furniture – that was the birth of the brand “Alpenmöbel® – Design meets History”…!
In order to be able to guarantee absolute originality to you as a customer now, the trademark registration and the pattern protection for the design of our objects were confirmed by the patent office. This guarantees you that no other company is allowed to manufacture, market or otherwise use a similar piece of furniture.
